Since its founding in 1997, the Fluvanna Heritage Trail Foundation has built and helped maintain miles of trail at Pleasant Grove, a 969 acre property owned and operated by Fluvanna County and its citizens. Trails at Pleasant Grove provide a unique hiking and walking experience. The Heritage Trail at Pleasant Grove has been developed with the active participation and cooperation of Fluvanna County, its Department of Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Department of Transportation. In 2001, the Heritage Trail Foundation purchased and opened the Heritage Rail Trail in Palmyra affording spectacular views of the Rivanna River and Pleasant Grove starting in the center of the county seat. In recent years, the Foundation has worked with Fluvanna County to restore the summer kitchen at Pleasant Grove as a new trailhead and museum.
Directions to the Foundation’s two trail systems are available on this website under Find Us. The Foundation is an active membership organization. Information on membership can be found on the Membership page. Our activities and local press can be found on the Activities/News page.
